Wow! What a great read. I couldn’t put it down. Loved the characters, especially Luce and Toph. This was an excellent mystery, loved how witty, smart and full of heart it was. I want to read more from this author!
I love a good page turner...Andi weaved an intricate story of suspense and clues keeping the reader guessing as to where the chocolate would lead to next. Lucy was such a loveable character but showed true bravery as the plot thickened. Such a fun novel...hard to believe that this is the author's first.
Amazing book. A guilty pleasure, I had a bazillion things to do, but just wanted to keep reading this book. So much brilliance in this story!
I loved this book. I don't read a lot of mystery stories but this book caught my attention from the beginning and kept it until the end. I enjoyed getting to know Lucy and watch her try to unravel the clues she had to work with. I found myself reading a lot faster at the end than I normally do so it will be a treat to read the story again, as I do with all books that I enjoy, to catch all of the little things that I missed the first time.
I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading future stories that Andi cares to share with us.
This book was very exciting and fast paced. I read it in one sitting because I didn't want to put it down. Lucy's father died and her mother has been fighting early onset Alzheimer's. She has been taking care of her mother and home for ten years. Every year in her birthday she received a mysterious gift. This year in her eighteenth birthday she tries to catch whoever is leaving the gift. She doesn't catch the fight over but this year's gift indifferent and leads her in a journey to help her mother recover and helps her recovery memories that lead her to clues about what happened to her family and how to change that.
I was completely engrossed by the story from the first chapter, and couldn't put the book down until I finished it at about 2 AM (in a weekday, no less!). The mixture of suspense, humor, drama and romance was very well done and the plot moved nicely until the end. Some parts were unrealistic, but the story was so fast-paced and fun that I was able to suspend my unbelief and simply enjoy the story and the characters. Lucy, the protagonist was a very likeable heroine, but the best part of the book was, of course, the love interest, Toph. He was so funny and charming he stole every scene he was in.
I will definitely read more from this author in the future, and kudos to her for writing such a great first novel.
With a busy schedule I don't find the time to read as often as I'd like. But I made the time for this one! After the first chapter I was sucked in and had to find out what happened next! Loved the character development and the surprises through out the whole thing. It was delightful!
