"You are the only female I desire, the only water that will quench my thirst, the only sun that will warm my skin, the only lips that were made for mine."
USA TODAY BESTSELLING SERIES
Almost one year ago, a Mage attacked Silver and changed the course of her destiny. Immortals exist, and now she is one of them.
Within the dark and supernatural city of Cognito, Silver is living under the watchful eye of her Ghuardian and dating her mortal enemy. Neither man can protect her from a dark secret, one buried within the contents of a box. As rival factions struggle to gain control, she finds herself in the middle of a centuries-old feud that threatens to drive a wedge between her and Logan Cross, the man who intends to seduce her.
In an explosive turn of events, one life is saved and another is forever altered. Can Silver trust those around her, or are they hiding a dark secret of their own?

There are parts I liked and parts I didn’t liked at all. I like the world the author created and how the society and politics play out. I like the characters and that they evolve/grow. The storytelling had me engaged and fighting with them all. But I don’t like how Silver is turning out. She was a strong, independent woman fighting for herself. She’s becoming a whiny brat that is incapable of taking care of herself. I also got tired of her supposedly needing to be protected by super powerful magical beings but yet constantly being kidnapped and bested. The arc has also definitely moved to romance novel and away from urban fantasy. The romantic scenes are very well done and had me awed at feeling their feelings and “watching” the slow and steady seduction. It definitely goes X-rated.
So, this installment is okay, not awful but not great.
There is a big however, however: There are five books in this series. I enjoyed the first three. The fourth book, Gravity, got too heavy for me (pun intended as I’m sure the author did as well). It was so heavy, though, that I stopped reading it. I decided I didn’t want to suffer through the frustration/annoyance/aggravation/stupidity/awfulness even if it might end well. I look to books to escape the depressing world, not be tortured by others’ misery. The main character’s stupidity becomes overly annoying in this installment and unbearable in Book 4. I just saw no sense in continuing. Love Books 1 and 2, like Book 3, and suffer through Book 4 to get to Book 5. Book 5 reviews say that it’s worth it. I decided not to.

Impulse Mageri Series Book 3 edition by Dannika Dark Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
"You see, you don't know what life is going to deal you, but you have to learn how to deal with life. F*** rolling with the punches -learn to punch back."
This series just gets better and better by the book, I'm absolutely in thrall, LOVE IT!! Full of action, suspense, surprises & amazing characters. Silver & her totally screwed up life just breaks my heart, this girl just cannot catch a break. Every time something good happens in her life it ends in disaster. And Adam, I wont say why but I wept for this man & wanted to shake the hell outta him at the same time. Logan is hott as ever & Simon is his usual dirty self. I love that man!!
The open bar offered a variety of beverages, and I laughed when we passed an ice sculpture of a nude couple and Simon made a seductive moan.
"Don't even think about licking it."
"Can't say a woman ever said that to me before."
Silver's relationship with Justus just gets deeper and more spectacular by the book. I don't EVER want her to move out. We actually get to jump into his head a few times in this book & I loved every second of it. They still have their struggles but I love watching their relationship grow.
" We're stubborn and we fight, but I care for you. I respect the man that you are and despite your horrendous table manners, you're an excellent Ghuardian. We're more alike than I think either of us will admit to. You have issues with personal space -I get it. Someone broke my trust a long time ago and that's what I have to deal with. It may not seem like it, but I trust you emphatically."....
"I want nothing more than to see you happy, even if I do make you miserable."
We get to know Finn a little better & I couldn't be happier. It was nice seeing him adjust to life outside slavery, he's a good kid. The character that took me by surprise the most was Christian the vampire. I did not like him much at all at first, but slowly he grew on me & you realize there just may be a decent guy buried underneath all that snark. And the more time I spend with Novice, the more I just love him. Typical for the mageri world, the villains are truly horrific. Seriously, they are the things nightmares are made of.
Now I know I'm probably gonna get lynched for this, but there is something I just have to get off my chest. I can honestly say I am not a fan of Silver & Logan as a couple. I realize I probably just signed my death wish, I know lots of people love them together, just not me. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, so please just hear me out before I'm lobotomized. First off, this has nothing to do with Logan himself, I love Logan. He's sweet, hott & totally bad-ass alpha, which is SO my thing, I just don't think he's whats best for Silver. I could also care less about the mixing of the breeds, it has nothing to do with that, the ignorant shifters & fellow cheetahs throwing insults around in this book can suck it. The two things that turn me off most about their relationship are 1) the fact that Silver can never give him children. It's been made quite clear that children are a really big deal for his race & the fact that they can never have any together will eventually cause resentment. 2) She can never truly be herself with him. She can't even touch him during sex & has to somewhat detach herself emotionally during sex so she doesn't electrocute him & that is a very big deal for me. She should be able to just let go & BE SILVER, but she can't, not completely anyway. That makes me sad for her. Now these are just my opinions & don't mean a whole lot, I just had to lay my heart out there. To each their own, I don't begrudge anyone who wants them together, it just doesn't work for me personally. Unfortunately (for me anyway) I can already tell they will end up staying together after all this comes to an end, that is just something I will have to live with.
All in all, I am totally addicted to this series & CANNOT WAIT to see where this brilliant author takes me next.
I was having problems liking this heroine in the 1st 2 books because she was very judgmental & often judged good people very harshly w/out getting to know them. I did not like her disobedience to her Guardian ALL THE TIME. He was the closet thing to father she was going to get & although we as children like to be rebels, she never stops! I don't know how he had the chance to teach her anything. SHE NEVER LISTENS EVEN WHEN ITS LIFE OR DEATH! Well it seems as if she finally started growing up. About midway through this book she finally starts to obey her gardian more (but definately still being a pain in the a**) & realizing she's been not giving others a chance before judging. One thing that really bugs me is that every male in this book is fighting over Silver & threatening each over, over Silver. She must be sum kind of rare Demigod. Lol. I would like them to find the other Crossbreeds (which I'm sure Raven Black from the Crossbreed series will be one. Btw Crossbreed series is one of the best fantasy series I have ever read. Can't wait 4 book 4). I liked that Christian from Crossbreed was in this book. The Mageri series must have been his character's introduction b4 the Crossbreed series. His character is absolutely delightful w/all the smart remarks & innuendos. Keeps me laughing in this book as well as in the Crossbreed series. Gotta love that Simon as well. Just found out that he has a book so I'm definately getting that as soon as I finish this series. I'm glad that Silver is finally growing up!
